As a freshman, I saw firsthand how financial burdens held back the dreams of so many in Laredo, including members of my own family. Determined to make a difference, I began laying the foundation for this initiative at the start of my sophomore year, fueled by the belief that no hardworking student should have to abandon their ambitions due to college debt. Every visit to Laredo strengthened my resolve, as I witnessed the struggles of bright, determined individuals whose potential was limited not by talent, but by financial constraints. This foundation is my way of proving that dedication and kindness can change lives—ensuring that those who work hard have the opportunity to pursue their dreams without fear of financial barriers.”- Jacob LeBrun

An inspiration for the founding of this organization is my grandmother. She grew up in Laredo, Texas, in a traditional Mexican household with her nine siblings and hardworking parents. Her father, a proud man of integrity, worked tirelessly to provide for the family, while her mother dedicated her life to raising them in a loving and disciplined home. Though they lived simply—sharing one bathroom among eleven people and working as teenagers to afford small luxuries—they never felt deprived because they had each other. Education was not just encouraged; it was a duty, and despite financial hardships, nine of them went on to earn degrees in fields like medicine, law, business, and education. My grandmother’s journey, filled with resilience and sacrifice, is a testament to the power of perseverance and the belief that education can change lives. Her story inspired me to start this foundation, ensuring that hardworking students in Laredo have the same opportunities to pursue their dreams, no matter their financial circumstances.
